G.DMT is ADSL1.
Not as fast as ADSL2 or ADSL2+, but much more stable.
When your line is longer than 3 km, there's hardly any speed advantage in using the ADSL2 modes. Just stick to G.DMT.
I used to get a 5-6 Mbps on ADSL2 but it would often take several minutes to sync.
Last year, the line got noisy and got swapped, then ADSL2 wouldn't sync at all, but ADSL1 (G.DMT) would at 4 Mbps. But it syncs now in less than a minute.
You're still getting faster syncs than me.
The only point in people with >3km lines in getting ADSL2 plans at all is that it is cheaper than Telstra ADSL1. You end up just running ADSL mode on it anyway. |
